Lost Episode 611 “Review”

Proletaria-tron: First things first, I have to give credit to Kill-Tacular-Tron. He has had a theory for a while now that A) Desmond is the islands Jesus and B) That “Lost” is not a reference to being lost on the island but instead Love being lost. I’ve always agreed with him but last nights episode really cemented his ideas and I love it.

So now that thats out of the way. GOOD GOD DESMOND IS AWESOME! Not only can he withstand insane electromagnetic waves but he instantly knows that he has to do whatever it takes to be with Penny. I don’t even care that this entire episode was centered in the alternate timeline because now that timeline makes sense. (sidenote: Eloise is a scary old lady who will fuck your world up.) They brought back Charlie which is a character I’ve always loved and a story which was always compelling and showed that hes still willing to sacrifice it all. Also Daniel “Widmore” Faraday was back and of course pivotal to discovering what needs to be done, how to get their Loves back, and I’m betting how to unite the 2 timelines again. Last nights episode was the best yet, plain and simple.

Arse-bot: First off, I’m not giving Kill-Tacular-Tron credit for shit. Not because he wasn’t right, but because I just don’t want to give him credit for anything.

I don’t even know where to begin with how awesome this episode was. After Desmond is hit with that electromagnetic wave and the show turned to the alternate time-line I was incredibly interested to see how Desmond fit into this world. I was enjoying the alternate time-line story for him quite a bit, despite thinking to myself, “Man, they sure are spending a lot of time focused on the alternate time-line this episode.” No sooner did I think this then Charlie ran the car into the water and Desmond had flashes of Charlie in the main time-line with “Not Penny’s Boat” on his hand – and I lost my fucking mind.

In all seriousness, Kill was right. LOST seems to actually have been refering to “sacrifice” this entire time, not “LOST on an island” like we all just assumed. And think about it, this show has been full of characters having to make major sacrifice from day one. And while we still don’t know what the main end-game of all this is, or even why some things are happening, it’s still great to finally see things start coming together.

I really like the idea that it almost seems like since Desmond is “the constant” that his conciousness can only exist in one time-line at a time. I may be wrong, but when he was hit with the electromagnetic wave he passed out, and in what seemed like only 20 seconds to him and the people there, he lived part of an entirely alternate life – sans Penny. Of course, this movement between time-lines isn’t stable – especially when introduced to small-scale electormagnetic waves a-la MRI. Desmond starts to suspect things aren’t right in the alternate time-line and that this isn’t “how things are supposed to be” before he even meets Faraday who explains it well. When Desmond shakes Penny’s hand alternate Desmond passes out and his conciousness moves back to “real” Desmond who seems to remember everything from what he just experienced and now knows what he has to do.

There are only a handful of episodes left and LOST still had a lot of ground to cover before we witness what I can only assume will be a very bitter-sweet ending for these characters. Easily the best episode thus far right next to Alpert’s time in the spotlight. I can’t wait for next week where the episode seems to revolve around Hurley and his dead friends – which I can only assume includes Libby.

If you are a fan of LOST there’s NO WAY last night’s episode wasn’t a big deal for you! Sound off in the comments and tell us what you thought, your theories, or that you are in fact the only LOST fan who didn’t like last night’s episode!
