Introducing: Wonderbot!

Ladies and robots, I’d like to introduce you to what I hope will be a great new feature here on Big Shiny Robot! Carly, from the Carly on Comics blog has agreed to do a weekly column (or more!) here on Big Shiny Robot! I’d tell you more, but she says it so much more eloquently:

Hello Big Shiny Robot world! My name is Wonderbot and I’m the new kid in town. I’m one of those rare Femme Bots you hear about but aren’t sure if they really exist or not. I assure you that we do, in fact, exist and our numbers are growing in leaps and bounds daily.
I thought I’d start out by introducing myself to everyone. My role here at BSR is going to be weekly comic book reviews (from a Femme Bot’s prospective). I’m still working out the logistics of exactly how I would like to format the column, so hang in there with me while I work out the kinks. I promise it will be worthwhile. I will also be covering some of the bigger East Coast “Nerd Events” like New York City and Boston Comic Con and hopefully, some of the Wizard World events.
Since this is just an intro (and you’ll be hearing PLENTY from me in the future), I thought I’d break things down for you with some fun facts about me.

  • *I have been a total dork my whole life, although I suppressed it for most of it. I believe my nerdiness started the first time I watched “Flight of the Navigator” as a small child.
  • Although I consider myself a sci-fi geek, The only “Star Wars” movie I’ve ever watched was “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope”, and I fell asleep while watching that (please don’t come after me with pitchforks and torches, I plan on watching all of them as soon as the BluRays are out).
  • I have a Corgi named Bigby, after Bigby Wolf in the comic book “Fables” by Bill Willingham. He lives up to his name because he’s a little dog with a big attitude.
  • I love video games, “Left 4 Dead 2” being the most played. I also love the original “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” as well as “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “X-Men” for Xbox Arcade. Back in the day, “Kirby’s Dreamland”, “Castlevania” and “Echo the Dolphin” were the bomb.
  • My fantasy football team is called “Team Awesome”. I came in first in my league last year. I consider that one of my greatest accomplishments.
  • I love “Doctor Who”, and I don’t care who the Doctor is played by.
  • I believe that Comic Con’s are the cure to depression.

I hope that helps get to know me a little bit better. In addition to contributing to BSR, I also have my own blog, Carly on Comics. I started that up last year at the request of my friends who find my “nerd rants” incredibly amusing. I look forward to working with everyone here at Big Shiny Robot, and I look forward to giving my all to the readers. You’ll be hearing from me soon!
