This Week at the Comic Shop! July 27th, 2011

Hello everyone! I’m back form my mini maternity leave and ready to rock! Without further adieu, here are my picks for the week.

Invincible #81– Invincible continues making up for lost time while he was out in space fighting The Viltrumite War. His efforts bring him face-to-face with PowerPlex, who still blames Invincible for the death of his wife and son. The thing is, these days Invincible has plenty to be angry about as well, so things are about to get intense!

Lenore Volume II #3– ‘Where Pooty At?’ The legendary, unstoppable, bucket-headed, demonic, bounty-hunter Pooty Applewater, Dark Minion from the 9th Layer of Heck is back with his lethal tiny pitchfork of death ready to do his master, The Dark Overlord’s bidding! Where has that bucket headed uber warrior with a passion for Parcheesi been and why is he back and what does his return spell for Lenore, the cute little dead girl?

Grimm Fairy Tales Dream Eater Crossover Part 7 Myths & Legends #7- With the Piper as their prisoner Baba Yaga and Samantha go in search of the one weapon that will give them a chance against the Dream Eater. But the weapon is not only in a different dimension but a different time all together and getting there may only be half of the battle in the fight to destroy something that cannot die and who’s only purpose is the destruction of all beings from the four realms. Part seven of the event that will change the Grimm Fairy Tales universe forever is here.

Doctor Who Vol. 2 #7– Separated into three worlds, the Doctor battles dinosaurs on a flying carpet, Rory pulls the sword in the stone to fight Wild West gunfighters, and Amy joins the French Resistance to fight the Sontarans. Only the TARDIS can join the worlds together, but where is it?

Gotham City Sirens #25 – With the chaos at Arkham quelled, the shocking ending of GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #24 will continue to echo. Old wounds, never fully healed, will reopen, leading to an epic showdown that has been building since the very first issue of the series! Guest-starring Batman!

Fables #107 – We all know the curse: She’ll sleep until she’s kissed by a handsome prince who loves her with true love. We have the sleeping girl. We have the handsome princes – lots of them. But where’s the true love? Without that, we fear she may spend a long time napping among the thorns. Oh, and memo to all you handsome princes lining up: When you hack your way into the city to kiss the girl, make sure you don’t try to kiss the Snow Queen instead.

In addition to my picks for comics this week, there are also a couple of “big books” (eg: a trade and a sketchbook) for you to check out as well. They are;

And if so how can we survive against them? At last here is the comprehensive guide every Monster Hunter must have! Whether you’re a weekend Bigfoot hunter or a hardcore Vampire slayer you simply can’t afford not to own this book.

Danger Girl Campbell Sketchbook HC- A striking collection of sketches, preliminaries, layouts and designs by comics superstar, J. Scott Campbell.
