Geekologie and Evil Avatar reported today that the rumor mill is buzzing that developer Rocksteady Studios (Batman: Arkham City, Arkham Asylum), is reportedly working on a TMNT title. Utilizing the same engine as Batman the rumors say you’ll be playing as all four turtles and will flashback to play as Splinter/Hamato Yoshi. Villains are rumored to be Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, Baxter Stockman (pre and post mutation), and of course Shredder/Oroku Saki.
Also of note the report says the game will be darker than you’d expect, and will include the Turtle Van and the Turtle Blimp. If you listen to the BigShinyPodcast you know we’re huge Turtles fans in this town. I hope this is more than a rumor, and that the game doesn’t suck. WIth Rocksteady at the wheel it could be an incredible title. Could you imagine playing through the scenarios put together in the current comic? Or even running through town fighting the foot clan using a combat system similar to Arkham Asylum/City? I’d be all over it. I tend to agree with Geekologie when they say, “The Turtles haven’t had a really amazing video game release since Turtles in Time, as far as I’m concerned.” I didn’t hate the multi-player cell-shaded Turtles that released 7 or so years ago for PS2/Cube but it was more of a mindless afterthought and could have been a DLC title on current gen. If this rumor holds true I can die happy.
