Ratchet And Clank animated movie to hit theaters in 2015

I simply cannot contain my excitement; this is incredible! I have been a ‘Ratchet And Clank’ fanboy since I first played ‘Going Commando’ ten years ago. I have followed their careers closely over thirteen games of platform evolution (PS2, PSP, PS3) and I never understood why the likes of Hollywood hadn’t come knocking. That wait is over.

It was announced today that the Ratchet And Clank animated movie is coming to theaters in 2015. The fact that TJ Fixman, the senior writer at Insomniac, is involved with the script and that voice actors including James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye as Clank and Jim Ward as Qwark will be reprising their roles makes it all that much better.

It puts me at ease knowing that the talent involved will capture the tone of the games and will be faithful to the foundation that came before it. I’m no super purist, but it’s important to me that the basic characters of Ratchet, Clank, and Quark are all present and basically themselves. Insomniac has always done a great job with their cutscenes, the ones in the ‘Future’ trilogy could easily be taken and compiled and turned into a movie. Teaming up with Blockade and Rainmaker Entertainment, the animation studio behind ‘Escape From Planet Earth’, should propel the ‘Ratchet And Clank’ brand and make it as huge as it’s always deserved to be. Not that they aren’t already a pretty big franchise, but they were my number one choice for “Crash Bandicoot” successor as far as Sony’s unofficial mascot goes. After this, they will be household names.
