Serious Disney Infinity PS3 Glitch

UPDATE: According to the Disney Infinity Facebook page, the issue has been fixed. All you have to do is re-enable your network connection, insert the game disc and download the new update when you are prompted to do so. The fix will not help with gamers who have had their saves corrupted, and it is still recommended you ‘take ownership’ of your characters (either by doing so in the pause menu or powering them up to at least level 1), but the new patch should take care of the problem. Androidika, who previously dealt with a corrupted save file, has reported that the update has worked, and he has had no further problems since he installed it.

I picked up Disney Infinity today, and while it is truly an amazing game, I’ll save my review for later on.

More pressing is the problem that many PS3 owners (including one of our own robots!) are seeing that has caused people to lose their entire game save files. This is unique to the PS3 and does not affect any of the other systems it was released on.

Until the glitch is fixed, do not download the 1.01 patch; if you already have (or if your PS3 did it for you automatically), uninstall it using the following steps:

1. Go to the Game menu of the XMB
2. Open the Game Data Utility folder (near the top of the list)
3. Highlight the Disney infinity icon with the characters background (this is the patch)
4. Press the triangle button on the wireless controller
5. Select the delete option
6. When asked “are you sure you want to continue?”, select YES
Patch is now deleted.

Next, you will want to disable your network connection as well by doing this:

1. Go to the Settings menu of the XMB
2. Open the Network Settings menu (last on the list)
3. Select Internet Connection
4. Highlight “Disable” and press the X button on the wireless controller
Network is now disabled

The one player game works just fine, but multiplayer will not be allowed until further notice. Thanks to the Disney Infinity Facebook Page for sharing how to temporarily deal with the network error. We’ll keep everyone posted as to when the game is fully functional.
