Video Game Quick Hits 1/21/14

Call of CthulhuFocus Home Interactive has revealed some production art for the latest game being developed at Frogwares. “Call of Cthulhu” is about as dark as you’d expect. The production art is appropriately creepy, but I’m sincerely hoping the game itself is a little more visible. Not sunshine and rainbows, of course. But I still like to be able to see where my character is going. It doesn’t look like we’ll know more about that for some time though; no due date or even platforms have been announced. They have confirmed the game is for “next-gen consoles” but not specifically stated which ones. Stay tuned and we’ll bring you more information as we have it.

Speaking of sunshine and rainbows, if you missed out on Lionhead’s trilogy of “Fable” RPGs there is a great bundle coming to XBox 360 on February 4th. The “Fable Trilogy” includes “Fable Anniversary,” “Fable II,” and “Fable III.”

“Resogun” developer Housemarque was recently asked on their Facebook page about the possibility of getting the PS4 launch title (which is free via PS Plus) ported to Vita. The response was not encouraging of a stand-alone handheld version (though it is playable on remote play) but is encouraging of more fun, saying they are “working on Resogun DLC and another PS4 project.” No word yet on the other project, though it’s likely the “Dead Nation” sequel most recently teased in a “Resogun” video.

In other PS Plus news, “Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons” is free for members starting with today’s update. Also being added is “Worms: Battle Islands” for Vita. Which also means the Vita’s “Urban Trial Freestyle” is bumped to Last Chance status.

The famously Kickstartered PS Move title “Sportsfriends” has suffered another delay and will not be available in January as previously announced (after being delayed from October 2013). No new release window was announced. Developer Die Gute Fabrik did advise backers that they’re “still working hard –and getting very close – but unfortunately we’re going to need some more weeks.” No word yet on whether this will delay the eventual PS4 release as well.
