XBOX: Twitch Streaming Hits Xbox One

Both consoles launched missing features that had been discussed during their multiple press conference announcements. The glaring miss on Microsoft’s part was the ability to broadcast gameplay via Twitch.tv. While most of us running a broadcast have a work around using a video capture card through a PC that is still unavailable on the PS4, the native streaming is something that has really changed the way many gamers play. March 11th is now shaping up to be a huge day for the Xbox One as they are not only releasing the first Xbox One Bundle, releasing the much anticipated “Titanfall” (that also comes in previously mentioned bundle), it now is also the release for live streaming via the Xbox One.

“Over the last two years, we have seen the broadcasting and spectating of video games go from a niche activity to a pastime shared by millions,” said Emmett Shear, CEO and Founder, Twitch. “As the experience grows in popularity, it’s important to provide as broad a feature set as possible for the community. Microsoft has done just that by rolling out the most robust console integration of Twitch to date and setting a new bar for others to strive for.”

If you have configured your Kinect you will be able to stream simply by saying “Xbox broadcast”, for those that would rather do it manually without the voice activation you can also begin streaming from the Twitch App. The Xbox also has the unique ability to allow party invites through the broadcast service, so you will be able to join up with the players you’re watching. If you want to get a head start on your streaming I would head over to Twitch.tv now and set up your account.
