‘Goat Simulator’

Yes, it’s a joke. Released on April 1, this was never meant to be taken seriously. But for a game that should really get a 3/10, it’s as much fun as a 8/10 for at least a little while.

The premise? You’re a goat. You can run, jump, bleat, headbutt, and kick. And hey, look, there’s a trampoline! Let’s jump really high on it and do some sweet backflips. There’s some townspeople– let’s go headbutt them! There’s a protest! Let’s go disrupt it. There’s a gas station! Let’s blow it up! There’s a satanic altar– let’s go summon forth a demon on it.

Seriously.

It’s no wonder the game’s official website from Coffee Stain Studios contains this disclaimer:

Goat Simulator is a small, broken and stupid game. I t was made in a couple of weeks so don’t expect a game in the size and scope of GTA with goats. In fact, you’re better off not expecting anything at all actually. To be completely honest, it would be best if you’d spend your $10 on a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe a real-life goat.

Key Features

  • You can be a goat
  • Get points for wrecking stuff – brag to your friends that you’re the alpha goat
  • Steam Workshop support – make your own goats, levels, missions, game modes, and more!
  • MILLIONS OF BUGS! We’re only eliminating the crash-bugs, everything else is hilarious and we’re keeping it
  • In-game physics that spazz out all the time
  • Seriously look at that goat’s neck
  • You can be a goat

If you’re mad at the $10 you wasted on this game, you can also go to Coffee Stain studios home office in the game and mess up their offices! You can also play a mini-game called “Flappy Goat.”

Oh, did I mention there’s a jetpack?

This game is great for 30 minutes of mindless stupid. And if you don’t expect much more than that, you might not be let down.

It’s buggy, it’s limited, but, since it’s on Steam, I’m betting the Steam modding community will have some fun with this. And if you’ve got $10 and want to spend it on at least 30 minutes of fun, Goat Simulator is goat-tastic.
