Representatives of the Umbrella Corporation kicked off the Salt Lake Comic-Con press conference, and they first assured us that zombies would not exist. Then, they touted the fact that SLCC is the third largest convention in North America.
Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg were brought out (through a standing room only crowd) , escorted by Resident Evil cosplayers.
Major announcements that were made:
- Marvel and Dark Horse Comics will be sponsoring the convention.
- They expect 120,000 attendees, 200 panels, and 250 guests and panelists
- They’re stepping up their film festival, and hope to build it as a rival to Sundance.
- They’re expanding Kid Con
- The SLCC Zombie Walk is August 10th
- Ticket Sales are currently 3x that of previous events. “We’re here to reinvest in our future to make a bigger and better show.:”
