‘Powers’ TV Show to Debut on PSN

At NYCC this weekend, Sony dropped the trailer for a televised adaptation of “Powers,” the gritty comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming—and it looks like all kinds of awesome (warning: contains F-Words):

That’s Sharlto Copley (“District 9,” “Elysium”) as Christian Walker, a detective assigned to a special division that investigates superhumans. Copley typically throws himself into any role that comes his way, and he looks sufficiently pissed off in the trailer, which makes me think we can expect a lot of aggressive acting from him. I was also pleased to see that Eddie Izzard (“Ocean’s 13,” “Shadow of the Vampire”) was cast as the villainous Wolfe. Not only am I dying to see Izzard as a superhuman, but as the bad guy? Sounds rad.

The show is scheduled to hit PSN this winter, and will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Hopefully this marks the beginning of a whole mess of original programming that will come to PSN.
