 Re: Star Wars on Blu-ray!
I've been swamped at work...
I'm excited as all hell for this, and I think it goes without saying.

I'm also in the way too many copies club. But that probably won't stop me from buying this. Amazon's $50 off is a sweet deal. Plus we got a $25 Amazon card for Christmas, means I can get the full pack for $65. I'd be crazy not to for that price.
Then again, the wife may have plans for that card. Possibly Little Big Planet 2. I could also use it to fill my new Kindle with goodies.
edit: DOH. This post just took me to a new Mario icon. A cape? I was hoping I'd stick with the Hammer Suit a little longer (my favorite Mario upgrade).

 Re: Star Wars on Blu-ray!
This sounds like a travesty, and I urge Star Wars fans to avoid it.
Ypu can look forward to the overdubbed Fett, the Anakin force ghost, another release of the poor special edition graphics and changes, and color correction and digital optimization that steals away from the original.
I would only look into buying Star Wars on Blu-ray if they promised me the theatrical releases.

I would like them to include both the theatrical release and remasterd versions of the films... Iv been pretty disappointed with home video releases of star wars... I just want one set that includes everything.
I would expect star was to have a blu-ray release on the level of what was given with Avatar... Like the movie or not... That was one hell of a nice blu-ray releas.

 Re: Star Wars on Blu-ray!
I think the technology is there for this release that you could make a custom edition as a fan that you can watch whenever you like.
For instance, in my ANH, Greedo shoots first but the Jabba scene is still included.
Similar for TESB, the really fake looking behind the Wampa CGI shot gets scrapped but the more colorful Cloud City sticks around. And Fett keeps his original voice.
I'd also bring back the original song in Jabba's palace and remove the weird beak thing in the Sarlacc. But I would keep the bigger explosion of the DSII and the newer Ewok celebration.
The ghost of Anakin thing I'm a little torn on. I don't mind having Hayden in there, but I think I liked Shaw a little better. Never mind that it makes no sense for Anakin to know how to enter the Force in the first place. What really needs to be added is the spirit of Qui-Gon standing behind Luke when Vader dies so it gives Vader a guide into the Forceghost afterlife.

 Re: Star Wars on Blu-ray!
You know the last DVD set they released had the theatrical and Special Editions, right?

 Re: Star Wars on Blu-ray!
Yes, but do I want to pull out the special edition disc and plug in the "special features" disc every three scenes just so I can have my customized experience?
My thought here is that I want some, but not all, of the changes included each time I watch the movie. I seriously think a blu-ray disc is large enough it could hold all of the necessary information and I can just select it scene by scene before I start the movie. Since some players (including my PS3) have a hard drive the machine should be able to save my selected scene profile so I only have to set it up once. After that, every time I pop in my disc I get Han shooting first, then going to talk to Jabba.
Come to think of it, I'm betting I could do this with somebody's software, but that seems hard. As long as I don't distribute it for money it would probably be legal too.
