Responses to “Complete Nintendo Lineup for begining of 2010!”
*sigh* I own a Wii and none of these titles sound terribly enticing. I only own a few games for my Wii, I am waiting for something to really catch my eye. IMHO there hasn’t been a “must own” game for the Wii that I have been excited for…
Well, I have owned a PS3 since it’s inception. And I have yet to buy a single title. And I’ve also never purchased an Xbox, as I haven’t seen a title that’s been a must have.
I have downloaded some PS3 games. And there are a few on the horizon that I’m excited for that I will certainly get, but I don’t think I’ve been interested in many titles, unless they’ve been on the Wii or DS.
I thought Mario Kart Wii was a must have.
Twilight Princess, was a must have in my book.
The new Super Mario Wii, and Galaxy, were good if you’re a Mario fan.
And Metroid Prime corruption, was my Favorite single player, first person shooter since the genesis of the genre. (Having good remote function on a FPS, is really something you’ll have to look into. I heard the Call of Duty didn’t.)
And I think Wii fit is a pretty fucking good idea, if you’ll pardon my french. It got my agoraphobic robot brother to do a push-up for gods sake. I would say that could be considered divine intervention. The Wii might be a fourth incarnation of god!
Also Mega Man 9 was awesome, and so I would be excited for Mega Man 10 if I were you. Those games are always a fun way to spend a day.
This list is kind of not that great. Though I’ll admit, once the teaser photo for the next Wii Zelda dropped, everything else lost its appeal. Also, to the immediate left of Mega-Man: Screw-man? Drill-Man? Whatever his name is, I know I’m gonna get a few cheap laughs out of it.
Immediate right. Immediate right, Pixel.
No must have games on the Xbox? Come on…
As I’m not a Halo fan, and I don’t care for multi-player games. And most everything that’s released on Xbox is also released on the PS3. I can safely say, there hasn’t been any exclusive Xbox games that have made me want to buy the system.
I can understand saying there aren’t any “must have EXCLUSIVES” that you want to play on the Xbox. But saying there aren’t must have games is ludicrous.
Almost as ludicrous as saying you don’t care for multi-player games while siding with the Wii. The biggest Family Home Evening console ever invented.
And I am talking about exclusives, and I think PS takes the cake with good exclusives.
Metal Gear, God of War, Final Fantasy up until this upcoming release. Dragon Quest 8.
Xbox has yet to appeal to me.
And while Wii may preach family entertainment, they don’t pander to online at all. Therefore Xbox, and PS3 are way more Multi-player centric, more Xbox than PS3. Ludicrous? I think not.
There are only two games on my “must have Wii list” that are even multi-player, and I don’t recommend playing them Multi-player. With the exception of Mario kart, that one is okay multi-player, but better single player.
If I were to go on in my list of “must haves on the Wii”, you would see the same continuing trend of good single player games.
Especially if we turn to the DS and Virtual Console.
IMHO the only acceptable multi-player games, are ones that you can play with ROB!
I guess it depends if we define multiplayer as over the internet, or in the same room.
Regarding downloadble games, I think it would be hard to choose between who is better. Wii or Xbox. While Wii has some new content and a lot of classics, Xbox has a much larger volume of new great games as well as some older games (TMNT 2 Arcade Edition anyone?). I think this is something we could debate about all day.
And it looks like it’s something you WILL debate all day.
I am buying Swank a tampon for Christmas.
But I digress….
I agree to both of you with a point. I think a lot of “lone gamers” tend to gravitate to the Wii. Yes, it offers lots of multiplayer titles, but multiplayer in the sense that you have a group of people in your living room playing tennis or Mario or something of the sort. But there are some pretty solid single player titles for the system.
For those of us that like multiplayer as far as ONLINE gaming is concerned, Nintendo has made it pretty clear how important online gaming is to them. I have a hard time dropping $50-$60 on a single-player title I will play through once (MAYBE twice) and then shelf. On the other hand, picking up a title for Xbox 360 (or even PS3) for $60 like Call of Duty, Halo, etc. is a lot easier for me because of the amount of playing time I get from it. I have logged over 2 days of play time on Call of Duty, I would be surprised if I have logged a quarter of that on Mario Kart Wii.
I really think it just depends on “what type” of gamer you are.
And Swank, I was just kidding about the tampon. I will get you more than one.
Here is an argument for you. Virtual Console vs Xbox Live.
I have looked at the list of Xbox Live, and there are a few titles that aren’t on Virtual Console, and PS3 that are pretty good, but not many…The front runner is Turtles arcade 2…
But I have downloaded lots of games that are on the list for PS3 that don’t come on the Virtual Console. And I have to say I’ve downloaded a lot more games on the Virtual Console.
But at the same time I think it depends on how old you are. Most the games I purchased are from my childhood.
All of the Zelda games are on virtual console, some Final Fantasy games, All the Castlevania’s released on the Nes, and the SNES, Mega Man’s, Metroids (Namely Super metroid.)
Plus they still have new versions of a ton of stuff, bomber man, Dr. mario. etc. Whatever.
The point is, there are some really good titles on the Virtual console, but Xbox and Playstation might have a better selection for newer gamers.
That’s my opinion.
Again, the Good Doctor has a point:
“But at the same time I think it depends on how old you are. Most the games I purchased are from my childhood. All of the Zelda games are on virtual console, some Final Fantasy games, All the Castlevania’s released on the Nes, and the SNES, Mega Man’s, Metroids (Namely Super metroid.)”
Now, I am on the opposite end of that. I loved my older games like Zelda, but I have no desire to go back and play them. Loved them when I had them, respect the rich history that they contributed to video games, but I keep wanting to play what new and innovative.
For those looking for the nostalgia factor, I think virtual console is the way to go (not that xbox doesn’t have some good nostalgic games like Sonic), but for those independently produced originals people want to check out, Xbox live all the way. A lot of these pay homage to the games of the past (Castle Crashers anyone?!)but are fun new games to play!
“But the front runner is TMNT 2″
Are you serious?!
Off the top of my head, you’ve got Flow, Braid, Castle Crashers, Bionic Commando: Rearmed. None of these are available on the VC, and Nintendo does a HORRIBLE job promoting anything but retro releases (World of Goo is the only one that I can think of with any REAL buzz). The few I mentioned earlier are NEW games. Why would I spend $5 on a NES game that I already own (and chances are, you do too)?
Besides, most older “gamers” still have their old systems.
I guess my point is the Virtual Console doesn’t have anything NEW to offer that I want. I’m just as nostalgic as the next nerd, but I can play the Zelda games on my original consoles or emulate them. I have a hard time paying 5 bucks for a game that I already have for the Nintendo, GBA and Emulated on my computer.
Maybe the doctor isn’t a thief like you are Kill!
THIEF!
The reason I think it’s worth it for some of them, is that it is good emulation on the Virtual Console. Way better than on the computer. Stuff Like Secret of Mana, a hard game to find if you are playing on the SNES, and even harder to play three players.
As well as the Virtual Console does do Wii-ware releases, and tons of them (Which are all brand new, and for the Wii only). Honestly I don’t think Xbox does that good of a job promoting their games either.
And Bugetron, I find it odd that you’re the one to come to Xbox’s defense, Do you even own one? Would you spend the money on Bionic Commando rearmed even if you did? You’re buget-tron for goodness sake.
Also I would venture to say that the Wii-ware releases alone rival the amount of games on xbox, Although I will admit most of them seem like misses to me. (Most of Xbox’s do as well.) And thus far Mega man 10 is announced solely for the Wii. Which I think will be a little more exciting than a remake of Bionic Commando.
Also I might as well add, that some titles that were released for Xbox and PS3 had better products released on the Wii. Example, Crystal Defenders. The Wii release had much better playability and better control. The reason Square-enix did that? I don’t know.
I still think Kill is a thief.
I think there’s a lesson we can all learn from our discussion here, and it’s something we can all agree on. And that is, Kill is a thief.
