Doctor Who to Film Season Opener in Utah!
Monday, October 11th, 2010 at 9:53 am Category: doctor who, TelevisionThat’s right, according to Digital Spy the new season of Doctor Who is set to shoot the beginning of their sixth season in Utah. The season will begin with a two part episode where The Doctor, Amy and Rory are summoned to the 1960′s-era Oval Office. This is the first time Doctor Who has ever been shot inside the US though there have been US themed episodes before. Production for the episode begins in Cardiff this month and the scenes in Utah are scheduled for mid-November. Anyone have any ideas of where they might shoot?

I read something about working in the desert. The best place for that is out west of Tooele on the way to Wendover. There are plenty of sand dunes and high desert scrub.
Let’s also not forget the Bonneville Salt Falts for that stark desolation look.
That is true, but there are also other places that are considered “Deserts”. I checked at the Utah Film Commission website and they offer 35 different locations for “Desert” scenes. A lot of them at the state parks in the south in the redrock areas. If they are coming to Utah of all places, why not use redrock instead of a desert that could look like many states of the USA?
They are going to be filming here in Utah this week from the 17th to the 19th but not sure where at exactly
IT’S TOLD! Matt Smith said himself (on the Craig Ferguson show) that they will be filming in Monument Valley Utah, like where Forrest Gump was. This would be the South edge of Utah just above Arizona. The Southeast corner, probably around Hwy 163 between Mexican Hat and the Arizona Border.
