Entertainment Weekly announced today it’s list of the 100 greatest films of the last 25 years.  Which is a great idea, but someone forgot to tell them what made a good movie.

You can check out the list here.

Absolute garbage like Shrek, Napoleon Dynamite and the Matrix all made the list (and above Back to the Future, to boot!)  I went through the the top 25 and the bottom 25 and there was nary a Star Wars movie to be found (I’m hoping the 4 released in the last 25 years are hidden in the middle somewhere but the idiotic movies that made the list pissed me off so bad I didn’t want to look anymore.  No sign of Ghostbusters, either.)

So, I’m issuing a Big Shiny Robot! challenge.

In the comments below, give me a list of what you think the 10 best movies of the last 25 years are.  I’ll compile your suggestions together along with my own impeccable tastes and we’ll show Entertainment Weekly what a bunch of thumb-sucking morons they really are.

Bear in mind, this list isn’t just about Nerd movies, either.  This should be a list of the greatest films of the last 25 years.  Stuff like Goodfellas and Rushmore, Shakespeare in Love and Quiz Show…  You know what  I mean?  Keep the prestige pictures in mind, too.  Which reminds me, The Prestige should be on the list, too….

Also, Shrek, Napoleon Dynamite and the Matrix are inelegible, due to massive sucking.

Commiebastard

I checked the whole list no star wars. ghostbusters is 58. That list was pretty damn shittacular.
I cant give you a ten best but, Fight Club, Man on Fire and batman begins should be in there

Swank-mo-tron

I think even you Star Wars haters would agree that at least Return of the Jedi belongs on the list somewhere in lieu of crap like Shrek, Napoleon Dynamite or the Matrix…

Joey Mousepad

Return of the Jedi is the only one of the original three that could be on the list. It’s within the last 25 years not 30-31 years. And the new ones blew chunks.

Swank-mo-tron

Oh, Joey Mousepad, if you only knew how wrong you were….

And besides, instead of denigrating great movies, why don’t stop whining and offer some suggestions of your own.

Kill-Tacular-Tron

I disagree, Empire should be the one on the list. And Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (for a non-nerd movie). If you haven’t seen that movie you can go to hell.

cvilaire

I haven’t checked out the list yet but they should at least have Frankenhooker in the bunch.

Are any of the Romero films in there? I would include Total Recall, Robocop, Starship Troopers(I love Paul Verhoven movies LoL!) :) and The last good movie i saw was No country for old men, and There will be blood. I would check the list but I’m at work and they restrict everything.
