Each week, Marvel is kind enough to provide us with a pile of comics for early preview and review. Every Friday we bring you previews of a few select comics from what Marvel sends us. Enjoy this weeks Marvel previews!
Astonishing X-Men #27
The X-Men are back on track with a new look, a new locale, and a new resolve as a team. But the next challenge that faces them will shake each member to the core! This title has been great! Watch for a review from me on Monday!
|

Guardians of the Galaxy #6
The Guardians are trying their damndest to figure out the skrull infiltration amongst their ranks, but after the dust settles will the team stay intact? This is an underrated title that is certainly worth checking out… I mean, come on, there’s a bad-ass, gun-toting space raccoon!
|

Mighty Avengers #19
Mighty Avengers and Secret Invasion marches on! Of course, so much of this can be traced back to the Kree/Skrull war and in this issue the lives of Captain Mar-Vell and Marvel Boy will greatly affect the events of Invasion and shape the future of the Mighty Avengers!
|

Moon Knight #23
Osborn and the Thunderbolts have been instructed to bring in Moon Knight and have thus far come up empty handed. But now, does Osborn have a full proof plan? Her certainly has the muscle and the numbers, but what he doesn’t know? Moon Knight is not alone… Swank and I are fans of Moon Knight, so here’s to hoping this issue is better than the last one.
|

Ultimate Origins #5
This is it folks. The Watchers finally speak! And you won’t want to miss what they have to say about the future of the Ultimate Universe! This has been a great series I think, but you can see what Clang! Boom! Steam! has to say about it in his review in a few days!
|
That’s it for this week bots! You can pick up all of these titles plus a lot more on Wednesday, Oct. 15!

- What all male meatbags look like during the human act of love.

The first "adult entertainer" I ever met at a comic convention
PG Porn, starring: Nathan Fillion & Aria Giovanni.
Best bad idea ever or the worst great idea ever?
Is there a difference, and does it matter?
From a distance it looks like
Inara and the Captain finally hooked up.
Curious?

Looks like we have more MARVEL animated series’ coming to us over the next few years! Here’s the official press release:
MARVEL ANIMATION EXPANDS SLATE WITH PRODUCTION OF ALL NEW ANIMATED SERIES
THE AVENGERS: EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES
New York, New York – October 8th, 2008 - Further strengthening its robust animation slate, Marvel Animation, a division of Marvel Entertainment, announced today the production of an all new animated series, THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Production on 26 half-hour episodes is already underway using the production services of Film Roman, producer of the Simpsons and King of the Hill.
The new series, expected to be available for broadcast in 2011, continues on Marvel’s already impressive television line-up which includes the all-new Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man: Armored Adventures series that will both debut on Nicktoons in 2009. Marvel Animation will also debut the all-new series Marvel Super Hero Squad and The Black Panther next year.
THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is an all-new property featuring some of Marvel’s all-time favorite characters including Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Giant Man and Wasp. When the planet is threatened by Super Villains, time traveling conquerors, alien invaders, mythical monsters and mad robots bent on the total destruction of humanity, when forces of evil are so overwhelming that no single hero has the power to save the world, when there is no hope left…the Avengers assemble!
The Avengers are the best of the best in the Marvel Universe and the greatest heroes who take on the most unbeatable foes. These are the heroes who hold back the storm, and the fate of the world rests on their shoulders.
“The addition of THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to our quickly expanding animation slate continues our plan to complement each of our tentpole live action features with an animated series,” said Eric Rollman, President of Animation. “This new ensemble series tracks perfectly with our highly anticipated ‘road to the Avengers’ strategy which includes some of Marvel’s biggest and most beloved characters, and which kicks off with two Avengers’ themed feature films in summer 2011.”

No, unfortunately I did not get to play a demo of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, the latest Spidey game to hit the market. SHH! however did have a demo shown to them and they have written up a pretty extensive and detailed review/preview of the game (pretty much spoiler-free) that you can check out here. Here’s a small excerpt:
Professional gamers guided us through an Xbox demo of the new game and we were stunned at the level of action and detail that’s been rendered in “Web of Shadows.” Not only does Spidey move through the game with all the speed, strength and agility as the real deal certainly would, it also cleverly uses his Spider-sense to ID and target threats and enemies, and gives him startling and dynamic levels of wall-crawling and web-slinging skills in an enormous playing field that makes the player feel like they’re smack in the middle of the New York cityscape where the action can literally go anywhere. It’s as if the player has been dropped in the middle of the most enormous action scene any of Sam Raimi’s movies could come up with. And throughout the relentless battles, Spider-Man retains that classic Peter Parker sense of humor, spouting a running series of quips and one-liners conceived by comic book writer Brian Reed.
Few game announcements have given this robot a preemptive robo-boner by only trailers, screen shots, and game descriptions, but next to Ghostbusters, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows has done just that. This may be the Spider-Man game we have all been waiting for and what Spider-Man 3 probably should have been; or it could be a massive disappointment.
Pass judgement when the game drops on October 21!

Marvel was nice enough to drop this kick ass preview into our inbox:

The X-Men have found a new home in the sunny city of San Francisco, but that doesn’t mean everything’s fine for Wolverine! The past catches up with everyone’s favorite Canadian Canucklehead once again in Wolverine: Manifest Destiny #1 (of 4), from acclaimed writer Jason Aaron (Wolverine, Ghost Rider) along with rising-star artist Stephen Segovia (Wolverine: Origins), as a bounty is put out on Wolverine’s head! Logan’s ex now leads the Triads, gathering four mystical warriors with the power to kill Wolverine—guess he should’ve stayed in New York! The snikt is about to hit the fan!
The feel good comic book preview of the year! -Slugtron

Marvel Comics has given us a preview of Stephen Colbert’s Cameo in Amazing Spider-Man #573!

Marvel was kind enough to put all the info about the issue together in this nice little package:
Marvel is proud to reveal that Spider-Man and acclaimed television personality Stephen Colbert will join forces in an all new eight-page story featured in the extra-sized Amazing Spider-Man #573! Acclaimed writer Mark Waid and fan favorite artist Patrick Olliffe present Stephen Colbert, a candidate for the US Presidency in the Marvel Universe, teaming up with Marvel’s most iconic crime fighter. What could bring these two together? And what will it mean for both their futures? This issue also features a special Colbert variant by Marvel EiC and industry superstar Joe Quesada! Plus, don’t miss the stunning conclusion to the sold out “New Ways To Die” from the dream team of Dan Slott & John Romita Jr!
And I have to say, “New Ways To Die” has been really, really cool. I would advise checking this out, for sure.
