HBO GO on Comcast a NO GO

I was looking forward to sharing my thoughts on how the HBOGO app worked on the PS3, but Comcast (or Xfinity, if you will) has decided not to allow access to the app on the gaming system. This is odd as most other cable and satellite carriers are supporting the app, and Comcast subscribers ARE able to login and use the service via a ChromeCast, AppleTV or other streaming services. I know that HBOGO used to be unique to XBox Live Gold but it doesn’t make sense that it would be now be allowed for everyone BUT Comcast subscribers on their Sony devices,

I called Comcast tech support about this tonight, and I was told that since HBOGO had been a unique part of Xbox Live, they are still working on the licensing issues for the PlayStation. I pressed further about the issue, but they would only confirm that they are working on allowing it to be available on all platforms in the near future.

Considering that Comcast is busy in their acquisition of another major cable company, I would hope that they would allow all customers access to a popular media streaming service despite the platform of their choosing. Still, if you would like to call and express your displeasure at not letting you access the service you are paying for, please do so at 800-COMCAST.
