Tom Taylor meets Bigby Wolf in ‘The Unwritten’ #50

This is a crossover I can get behind. It makes total sense that Vertigo heavyweights ‘Fables’ and ‘The Unwritten’ would collide at some point or another. Well, at least to me it does. I have been onboard with ‘The Unwritten’ since the first issue and while I was never a loyal ‘Fables’ reader it did seem that the worlds seemed ‘familiar’ but I could never put my finger on what exactly.

If you haven’t started reading, ‘The Unwritten’ you need to. This title has things to say about the nature of fame and our obsession with celebrities. And, as a nod to the roadside-accident-rubber neck syndrome, writer Mike Carey demonstrates again that, while we as a public love to build up our idols, what we love even more is tearing them down. A modern fantasy tale of literary figures, philosophy, mythological beasts, and human dreams & nightmares. It gets so much better as it goes along.

BTW, you gotta love the throwback cover ALA issue one. Hit up your local comic book store and/or your library and get caught up with the trades. May is only four months away.
